The Glory of Venice - 500 years of Music and the Arts
Peter Medhurst
The qualities found in Venetian culture are unique to the city and manifest themselves in its art, architecture, sculpture and music. All are designed to reflect and uphold the vision of the city being an exceptional place with a passion for colour, spectacle, music and opera. Come and be dazzled by the “Venetianess” of it all.
Peter Medhurst
Peter Medhurst is an expert on the music and art of Venice, and has presented numerous lectures and study days on the subject at venues which include the National Gallery, the V&A, the Royal Festival Hall, and the Barbican. He has lectured extensively on the music of Vivaldi – especially concerning the relationship of Vivaldi to his native Venice – and is well-known for his presentations discussing the impact of 18th century Venetian artists, in the broadest sense of the word, on English culture during the reigns of the four Georges.
