Caravaggio: Murderer or Genius

Julia Musgrave

For many Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is famed as much for his art as for his criminal record. Was it the violence of his time or his own violent spirit that inspired the dramatic lighting and intense nature of his work? Certainly, his paintings inspired many and would go on to inform more including Rubens and Rembrandt. This lecture follows his dramatic life and looks at why his impact spread so far.
