Sicily: Cultural Crossroads
Richard Wincop
Discovery Day
Thursday 5 November 10am to 3pm
Budleigh Public Hall
Sicily has long been the crossroads between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. This Discovery Day explores the cultural influences brought by these regions, followed by the Normans, who wove together these cultures during a remarkably enlightened rule.
Richard Wincop, based in Chichester, is a professional artist whose combination of knowledge and practical experience gives him a unique perspective on Art History. His interest in Sicily was sparked by a large-scale commission in Calabria to paint the story of the Norman conquest of Southern Italy.
Cost: £30 (includes lunch, coffee, and biscuits).
